Obituary of Gomer Evans
Please share a memory of Gomer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gomer Allan Evans, Jr. "Pat" passed away March 18 in St. Louis, Missouri. It was a sunny day that reminded us all what a great light of hope his positive attitude brought to all his friends and family. He is survived by his Daughters Jennifer Brown and her husband Gary of St. Louis, Missouri and April Doyle and her husband Steve of Richardson, Texas, his mother Eloise Evans, brothers Curtis and Leo Evans, sister Cathey Crow, grandchildren Melissa, Eric, Allison, and Matthew Brown and Tyler and Luke Doyle, and Kathleen Evans wife for 23 years friends for 49.
Pat was born in Tulsa on July 21, 1944 to Gomer and Eloise Evans. He was a lively boy with a very curious nature and love of life. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1962. He went on to receive a degree in Business administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1966, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. After OU he went to the University of Tulsa where he was presented with a law degree in 1968. He was a practicing attorney in Tulsa for over 40 years, partnering with O.C. Lassiter, Larry Oliver and Richard Johnson.
The little boy with such a great curiosity grew up to be a man of great compassion and tolerance for others, a champion for honesty and fair play. Pat enjoyed golf and was a member at Cedar Ridge country club for years where many a dollar changed hands.
Maybe his greatest passion was spending time at the race tracks around the country with his father Gomer and friends, especially at Oakland Park in Hot Springs Arkansas.
He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He traveled between St. Louis, Tulsa, and Richardson on a regular basis in order to spend as much time as possible with them. It brought him such joy traveling throughout the country with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was their biggest fan!
His helpful nature will be greatly missed. We have all lost a dear friend. It was an honor to have known him.
The family requests that any donations be made to St. Anthony's Hospice 10016 Kennerly Road St. Louis, MO 63128.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday March 23 at Ninde funeral Home, Garden Chapel, 3841 South Peoria at 2:00pm.
