Obituary of Rex Sackett

Rex A. Sackett, 94, born January 6, 1917 in Bartlesville, OK to Rex G. & Pearl Elizabeth Sackett died April 30, 2011. Rex was a special man of great faith and integrity. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and true friend to all who knew him. Rex lived in Pittsburg, KS, Pawhuska, Blackwell and Okemah, OK. He became a Tulsan in 1931. A 1935 graduate of Tulsa Central High he went on to graduate from Tulsa Business College. He was employed by Sinclair Oil and Gas Co. in 1936. Rex served in the USAF from 1943-1945 as a Bombardier Pilot where he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant and in the USAF Reserve from 1945-1951. After a brief transfer in 1954 to Houston, TX as Property Acquisition Manager for Sinclair he returned to Tulsa in 1957, becoming an Accounting Supervisor with Atlantic Richfield after the 1969 merger. He retired in 1981 after 45 years of service. In retirement Rex traveled extensively while continuing his passion of playing golf to age 90. He was a constant community volunteer, serving on different advisory boards and in elected positions for numerous charities, organizations and groups in the Tulsa area. He was a member of First Christian Church & Northeast Active Timers. Rex was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Malveno Jones Sackett. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Smith Sackett of Tulsa; his son and daughter-in-law, Brett & Pamela Sackett; two grandchildren, Evan and Brooke Sackettall of Temecula, CA. A Celebration Service of a life well lived will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 4, at University Village, 8555 S. Lewis, Tulsa, OK.
