Fred Daniel, Jr. was born in Tulsa, OK on January 5, 1927 to Fred and Mildred Daniel. He passed from this life at his home Thursday, May 26, 2011 surrounded by his loving wife of 54 years, Iris; daughter, Susan Daniel Bahner; and two sons, Fred Daniel, III and John Curtis Daniel. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Brent Bahner; five granddaughters, Sara Elizabeth Bahner, Ann Kathleen Bahner, Katherine Susanne Bahner, Grace Emma Daniel and Susannah Kathryn Daniel; sister-in-law, Nancy Daniel; and several nieces. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Daniel; his sister, Ann Genet; and a nephew, Bill Daniel.
Fred graduated from Central High School in 1945 and immediately entered the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge in 1947 he began attending the University of Tulsa and was a golf letterman. He joined his father in the business now known as Fred Daniel and Sons, Inc. in 1950 which is celebrating its 91st year in business. Fred took great pride in the personal service he provided his customers. Maintaining contact through traditional communication, Fred continued to dictate letters and make personal calls.
Fred was a loyal member of the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church for 31 years and served on their board. He was a faithful Rotarian who enjoyed ringing the Salvation Army bell during the Christmas season. He served on the United States Golf Association Junior Committee and was a dedicated member of the Town and Country School Board for many years. In 1952, Fred joined Southern Hills Country Club where he was an avid golfer. Although he enjoyed playing at Augusta National, Fred's most cherished time was that spent with his children and grandchildren. Some of Fred's favorite times included the trips to Destin, Florida which the family has taken together for the past 30 years; many great times with close friends on trips to Colorado; his movie and luncheon groups; and his weekly adventure to White River! A special thank you to his caregivers, Heather and Andrea.
