Mabel Ann Jetton Taylor Mabel Ann Jetton Taylor died peacefully in her sleep early in the morning on June 16, 2011, at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dunn, NC. She was 94 years old. Mabel Ann was born December 13, 1916, near Mountain View, Arkansas, the sixth child and fifth daughter in a family of ten children. Her parents were William Thomas and Laura Greenway Jetton. The family moved to Salina, Oklahoma, when she was three years old. She attended grade school and high school in Salina and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1947, with a degree in Education. She taught in the Tulsa Public School system (mostly second grade) for thirty-five years. She also taught in the San Francisco and Richmond, California, school districts during WWII when she was with her husband while he served in the U.S. Navy. She was a life member of the Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, Tulsa Retired Teachers' Association and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers' Association. She married Lawrence Taylor on January 1, l937. They were married for sixty-five years until Lawrence died in 2003. She helped rear three sons, Larry William Taylor, an architect who died of cancer in l984, at the age of forty-six; Gary Arthur Taylor, Ph.D. who is Chair of the Psychology Department at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and Keith Lawrence Taylor, D.Min, who is a Chaplain and who serves in the Naval Reserves. She also has nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Taylor worked as Cradle Roll Superintendent for Hillcrest Baptist Church and served in several capacities at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa for many years. She was an active church member in many other churches and was a member of Neill's Creek Baptist in Angier, N.C. at the time of her death. Proverbs 31:10-31 best personifies Mabel Ann's Life. She was a dedicated teacher; her family was always her main concern and she made many willing sacrifices for her husband and sons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Department of Neills' Creek Baptist Church in Angier, NC.
