Obituary of Betty Murphey

Betty Imogine Murphey, 82, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend and church member died peacefully on Wednesday, July 27th in Katy, Texas. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd at 2:30 p.m. in the Sandusky Avenue Christian Church with Revs. Terry Bell and Randy Smothers officiating. Visitation will held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. till 8: 00 p.m. with family receiving friends at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Born in Wilzetta, Oklahoma on September 6, 1928. Betty was the first of six daughters of Jim and Ruth Dean. After her graduation from Prague High School she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Tulsa as a telephone operator. While employed with Southwestern Bell she held several different positions and retired in 1986 from AT&T. She and Kenneth Murphey were united in marriage in 1950. She was a devoted follower of Christ and was very active in the Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of 61 years, daughter Kathy Kiibler, grandchildren, Rachelle Randall, Ryan Randall and Jennifer Murphey, five sisters, Bobbie Payne, Carolyn Dean, Barbara Crookshank, Pat Carson, and Regena Freeman, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her dear son, Jim. Betty truly loved people and made friends wherever she went. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made in her name to: Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, 12620 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74146.
