Obituary of Laura Leona Henson

Leona Whiteley Bennett Henson was born December 17, 1923 in Burbank, Oklahoma the daughter of Robert Ruel and Maude B (Choate) Whiteley. She completed this life on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the age of 87. Leona had a long career as a banker starting at Community State Bank. She retired from Sooner Federal Savings and Loan as a Senior Loan Officer. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was deeply committed to her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert V. Bennett in 1983. She is survived by her husband, James Lynn Henson; her daughter; Barbara Trecek (Jim) of Tulsa; her son, Gary R. Bennett (Muffy) of Phoenix, AZ; her step-daughters, Ann Henson of Billings, MT and Jane Henson of Elkin, NC; her step-son, Russell Henson of Dallas, TX; her brother, Bob G. Whiteley (Marylou) of Ruidoso, NM; her Grandchildren, Matt and Kyle Whiteis, Derek and Kristina Bennett, Heather DePalma and Hillary Moseley; her great Grandchildren: Mason, Riley, Preston and Mitchell Whiteis, Bennett and Claire White, Kaitlyn DePalma and Maddie Moseley; her step-grandchildren: Tyler and Conner Henson. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge her devoted caregiver, Talesha Waite. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Ninde Brookside Chapel with interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
