Obituary of Dorothy Crane

Dorothy Ruth Crane passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on September 9, 2011 while surrounded by her family in Tulsa, OK. She was born on September 30, 1925 in New Orleans, LA to Camille and Frank Herman Ruth. She met the love of her life, Raymond Thayer Crane, while on a blind date arranged by Raymond's younger brother, Bob. Dorothy and Raymond were married on June 25, 1949. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Mobile, Alabama where they raised their three children. Once their children moved away, they followed their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren to Tulsa. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her kindness and selflessness will be remembered by all who knew her, as family and friends cherished her gentle smile and warm personality. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, smocking baby dresses, bird watching, spending time with loved ones and traveling. In particular, she enjoyed taking annual trips to the gulf coast with her loving husband, Ray. Dorothy was an avid volunteer. She volunteered for 17 years at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. She will be dearly missed, but we know she is in Heaven with those who have gone before her, including her parents Frank Ruth and Camille (Schroder) Ruth, her daughter, Carolyn (Crane) Macgregor of Oakland, CA; her brother Frank Ruth, Jr. of Fresno, CA; her sister, Rita Evans of New Orleans, LA. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Raymond Thayer Crane of Tulsa; son, and daughter-in-law, David and Memmitt Crane of Plantation, FL; grandson, Matthew Crane; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Dan Auffenberg of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Lauren Hill and her husband, Austin of Dallas, TX, Kathleen, Daniel and Madeleine Auffenberg, all of Tulsa; granddaughter, Kim Ritter and her husband Richard Ritter of Sacramento, CA; great grandchildren: Riley and Raymond Ritter; and her brother, Milton and Pat Ruth of Fresno, CA.
