Obituary of Eugene Francis Pawlowski

Eugene (Gene) Pawlowski age 97, passed away July 14, 2014 at the Oklahoma VA Center, Claremore, OK. Gene was born Dec. 9, 1916. in Milwaukee, WI. to Frank and Josephine Pawlowski (Nee Czarnecki). Raised in Menominee, MI, and while a student at Menominee High School he and another student built the four sets of iron gates in shop class for the high school stadium. Three sets of these gates are still on the entrances to the stadium today. Gene married Margaret (Maggie) Noel of Marinette and moved his young family to Milwaukee in the early 40's. He joined the Navy and served with the 59th SeaBee's on Guam. After WWII, Gene was active with Milwaukee's Nowak-Plunkett VFW Post 920 serving as Commander. Gene was instrumental in forming the Militaires Drum & Bugle Corps and served as board member and equipment manager from 1955 to 1957. Gene moved to Tulsa, OK, in 1964 where he married Jacqueline Girard and with her help formed Mery Girard Antiques. Together, they did antique shows nationwide, known as experts in French Quimper, Medical Instruments & Edison Talking Machines, until the early 2000's. Gene is survived by his wife Jacqueline Girard Pawlowski , sons Gene R. Pawlowski and A.J. Pawlowski (Cyndi), daughter Peggy Finch (Gerald) and step-daughter Frances Purdy (Carol Richards), 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Raymond Pawlowski and granddaughter Shell Purdy Burial will be on the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Menominee, MI.
