The Ossenkops -- especially Bill -- were neighbors in the best meaning of the word to my parents, Flo and Harold Lomax, on 94th Street. They lived next door to one another for 40 years. They shared gardening, woodworking, fishing, and pet interests, and admired each other's tomatoes, dahlias, roses, and dogs. In the last decade of their lives on 94th, Bill and Harold seemed to accompany one another on almost daily jaunts to the hardware or lumber yard. Their moves almost simultaneously to apartments at The Broadmoor must have put a dent in the stores' budgets.
My parents counted their neighbors among the great blessings of their lives, and we four daughters enjoyed Bill's company too.
