Obituary of Aurora Rosales Panganiban

Aurora Rosales Panganiban, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2014 after a day spent enjoying her daughter Ginny’s beautiful garden, feeding the ducks, fish, and turtles in a nearby pond; and going out for her favorite, Jamoca ice cream on a sugar cone at Baskin-Robbins. Mrs. Panganiban was born on October 11, 1922 in Lucena, Philippines and became an American Citizen in 1942. She was a teacher in the Philippines and worked for the Civil Service in Fort Ord, CA. She completed courses in Library Sciences at San Jose State University and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts at Cameron University, Lawton, OK. Mrs. Panganiban was a devoted mother who inspired her children to love God and each other, attend college, establish a career, strive for perfection; and to never, ever quit. Her seven children, Ginny Creveling, Tony (Terrie) Panganiban, Bobby Panganiban, Debbie (Clarence) Louie, Paul Panganiban, Al (Liz) Panganiban, and Bert Panganiban will deeply miss her beauty, style, passion, and unconditional love. They are grateful for all the wonderful times they shared and feel blessed that their mother lived a good, long, life. “Grandma Lola” had thirteen grandchildren: Pilar (Todd) Bleakley, Chad (Catricia) Creveling, Nicole (Jason) Shioya, Nathan Panganiban, Alisha Louie, Andrea Louie (Mike) Brown, Dominique Panganiban (Kilan) Brown, Ilia (Jody) Vukas, Taj (Michelle) Panganiban, Isabel Aurora Panganiban, Noah Panganiban, Mackenzie Panganiban, and Bella Panganiban; and nine great grandchildren, Miles and Zoe Hubbard, Brandon, Bailey, and Abigail Shioya, Tyler and Ashton Creveling, Lady Brown, and Sabali Siah Panganiban Brown. Over her 40+ years as a proud grandmother, she lovingly sewed Halloween costumes and beautiful dresses; cooked the kids’ favorite treats, including her signature, Lumpia, which they gobbled up as fast as she could make them, and was there to celebrate the many milestones and special occasions in her grandchildren’s lives. Mrs. Panganiban was deeply patriotic. She loved America and was a proud American. An avid reader, she took a keen interest in politics. She liked sports and looked forward to singing her version of the national anthem at the start of every game. Her favorite pastime was gardening and she spent hours cultivating her plants and flowers that grew in every corner of the yard. She attended Catholic Mass and regularly watched religious programs on TV. She faithfully watched Joel Osteen's televised services every Sunday morning. A private, family memorial service will be held at the San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey, CA on 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation in her memory be made to a charity of your choice, or to Little Manila Foundation, http://www.littlemanila.org Or, to the Disabled American Veteran Scholarship #7500264, San Joaquin Delta College, Veterans Services, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95207
