Obituary of Mary Josephine "Jody" Shipley

Mary Josephine (Jody) Shipley 96, long-time resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma area, died on Saturday, September 13th, 2014. Jody was born in Iola, Kansas on May 15, 1918.
She grew up in Tulsa, Ok and graduated from Central High School. She had a long and satisfying career with Balco Engineering in Wichita, KS, where she worked till her retirement at age 65. She then returned to Tulsa. At the age of 75, she was reunited with and married her high school sweetheart, Bud Shipley, and moved to Bartlesville.
Jody loved to work in and took great pride in her yard. She also enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends, and music of all kinds, with the exception of rap. She loved to sing and dance. Jody was a woman of a warm and generous nature, with a wonderful smile that could light up a room and who gave joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her three children, Jo Ann, Mary Jo and Les: one brother, Robert; four nieces, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren all of whom brought great joy to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Shipley, her parents, Anna and Joseph, her brother, Floyd and sister, Anna Margaret.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at St John Catholic Church, Bartlesville, OK.
