Obituary of Jaunita Mae Hoehn
Please share a memory of Jaunita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jaunita Mae “Nita” Hoehn was born November 28, 1928 in Streator, IL to Ethel Veach and entered her Heavenly home October 17, 2014 at the age of 85. She was an active, longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served in many capacities, including being one of the first female elders. She was a compassionate caregiver, taking in numerous people both young and old throughout her lifetime. She was extremely generous, gregarious and full of life; always putting others before herself.
For over 35 years she enjoyed hundreds of her regular customers at Dolphin Pools and all the lives she touched selling pecans that came from the pecan grove she loved and lived on. She was an accomplished roller skater, tap dancer and bowler. She enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and Mr. Ed’s auctions. But most of all, she enjoyed her family to whom she was a fiercely devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great grandma. Her untiring dedication and devotion to her family and friends, was a driving force her entire life.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Edward Hoehn; son, Walter Douglas Hoehn, Sr. and his wife, Holly Elizabeth; son, Roger Warren Hoehn; grandchildren, Miranda Smith, MD and her husband Kenneth; Walter Douglas “Dougie” Hoehn, Jr. and his wife, Taryn; Daniel Joseph “Jody” Hoehn and his wife, Brittany; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Micah and Levi Smith.
Friends may contribute in Nita’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 East 81st Street St. 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137 or www.alz.org.
