As one driver to the boss, I am sorry to hear about you stepping off the stage to go sing in another choir. But, as it happens, it does happen. He calls us home, and gives us a chance to do the really fun stuff we worked for all our lives. Like getting it from point A to Point B, on time, without the customer complaining. PS. I really loved working for you. It was a slice, and i wouldnt have walked away if i could have helped it. Mark S. Conley, 11-7 Dispatcher, Crowl Courier of Oklahoma City.

Damn... Words are not sufficient. Don was a great friend. He and Iva Jean and my wife and I go back a long way. We sent our thoughts north to Tulsa on Friday. I hope they made it... Peace, my friend. Charlie

Don was such a wonderful man. A great husband, father, and friend. The world has truly lost a bright and joyful spirit. I pray that you will find comfort in knowing that his life touched so many and brought so much joy to many of us. I have a feeling that he and Gary are in heaven now singing with a chorus like this world has never known. Knowing that makes brings a smile to my face on an otherwise sad day. I hope it does the same for you.

A probation officer, Secret Service for six presidents, a U.S. Marshal, a Miss Oklahoma judge, and singing in a barbershop quartet harmony…I would have liked to have had the opportunity to hear some of his adventures! Although I never knew your dad personally, I do know his daughter. Your fierce determination, your loyalty to friends, your “don’t give up and get it done mindset is your dad’s DNA. I know you are as proud of him as he was of you. I know he appreciated your being in his corner, being someone with answers of “not to worry yet Dad, with looking at “what you do have reality talks, and with “I am fighting with you, Dad loyalty needed for his battle with cancer. You fought hard with him. Your monthly trips to Tulsa brought him some sunshine. The sunshine of which I refer to is, of course, Whitney. You would tease him saying, “This time, Dad, we had to leave Whitney at home. He would say, “Well, you can just turn that car around and go back and get her! Grandparents..the most unusual, and yet, the best people born! He was no exception! The finality of today, the last time, is heart breaking. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers will be with you today especially. I pray his memory will be honored today for you and your family. Memories of my own dad still live on. I see him in myself and in my sister and brother… just to mention, all of us hard workers as he was. Sometimes I have to laugh, though. I do have some of my dad’s DNA that gets me in “trouble unintentionally, such as his “say it like it is. He never sugar coated anything! That being said, the sadness does not just end today. There will be unexpected moments, certain memories, and just thoughts that will make you sad and empty. Sometimes your strength won’t be enough; this is where family and friends come in. We gotcha ya!

Iva Jean, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I think back to the wonderful times we shared in Wichita when we were in college. I wish we had stayed in closer contact through the years, but your annual Christmas letters kept me up to date with you and your family. Don was a wonderful fraternity brother and a great friend and a loving and kind man. We will miss him greatly. May God grant you peace and calm your sorrows in the days ahead.

Don was a true gentleman, and a truly fine man. As a barbershop judge I've had the honor of serving with Him on many panels over the years. I consider that a privilege. He and I exchanged several emails about this time last year regarding our barbershop responsibilities and for a few weeks, he became a bit unresponsive. Sometime after Thanksgiving he suddenly chimed back in having been proudly in absentia due to extended time with the family and, in particular, the grand kids. There was no doubt or confusion over his priories! I am so glad to have gotten to know a man of his caliber and am so sad to hear of his passing. My sincerest condolences to the family on your loss and equally sincere thanks for "sharing him" with his fellow judges and other Barbershoppers. Bob Hodges, Presentation Judge and Member, The Vocal Majority.

I met Don when he taught at the Tulsa Police Academy many years ago. Also I worked with him while I was at the District Attorney's Office in the Mental Health Division. He was always such fun to talk to. I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with your family in this time.

Donna & Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. There are no words that will make this any easier but here is one of my mom's favorite poems that may help just a little bit.. Whispers from Heaven- When I left this world without you I know it made you blue. Your tears fell so freely, I watched; I know this is true. While you were weeping Days after I passed away- While all was silent within me, I saw you kneel to pray. From this wonderful place called heaven Where all my pain is gone, I send a gentle breeze to whisper, "My loved ones, please go on" The peace that I have found here Goes far beyond compare No rain, no clouds, no suffering- Just LOVE from everywhere. You need not be troubled Just stay close to GOD in prayer Someday we'll be reunited My love, HIS love surrounds you always, EVERYWHERE! Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way. Love Always, Melissa, Shane, and Connie Curtiss
