Obituary of Kathryn Lee Welch

Kathryn Lee “Kay” Welch was born June 30, 1920 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Walter I. and Lona V. (Cates) Davis. She passed from this life Monday, March 9, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 94. She moved to Tulsa as a child and was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School. Kay always had a sense of adventure and love travelling the world with her true love and husband, Barney Welch; Kay and Barney were also avid ballroom dancers. Kay was a long time member of Asbury Methodist Church, the Tulsa Mrs. Club and was an avid bridge player. She loved fishing, boating and sewing. Kay loved her family and many friends. She is survived by her son, Barney Welch, Jr. of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters, Amber Welch of Madrid, Spain and Nicole Welch of Oklahoma City; a niece, Janna Wise; a nephew Jack Bullington; and many great nieces and nephews. Kay’s family would like to especially thank the caregivers at St. Francis Hospice for their special care and Darla, Jane, Debra, Roselee and Jeanette with Interim Healthcare for their care and special kindness. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday in the Mason Chapel at Asbury Methodist Church.
