Obituary of James Elbert McClendon II

James (Fatty) Elbert McClendon II, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 61. He was born on June 10, 1954 to James Elbert and JoAnne Colby McClendon in Norman Oklahoma who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Deborah Logan McClendon; his daughter, Marcie Anne McClendon Agent, her husband Will Agent and one grandchild, Lawrence James (L.J.) Agent of Norman, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne McClendon Symcox and her husband Lee of Oklahoma City and his brother, Michael B. McClendon and his wife Sondra of Tulsa. Jim had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he adored and who loved him in return. He was an incredibly dedicated husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who always had time to talk or help with any need.
Jim attended Patrick Henry Elementary School, Tulsa Edison High School and later graduated from the University of Oklahoma. In high school, he played varsity baseball, earning the nickname “Fat Daddy” (later shortened to “Fatty” in college), and was a member of the state championship team of 1971. While attending OU, he became a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Jim was a Life Loyal Sigma Chi, enjoyed the friendship and deep bonds with his Sigma Chi brothers as well as the earlier relationships he had with his high school classmates and baseball teammates. He always wore his Sigma Chi ring and was very proud that his father, brother, father-in-law and two nephews were also his Sigma Chi brothers. A dedicated Sooner, Jim enjoyed OU athletics and was always eager to talk about the latest game (any sport).
Fifteen years ago, Jim became a founding partner of Global Flow Products, dedicating countless hours to the success of Global Flow, and its subsidiaries.
Jim’s personality was bigger than life and he never met a stranger. He had a gift of connecting with people and was a joy to be around. He was a loyal and giving friend to everyone and he had countless friends who loved and supported him during the 5 months he was hospitalized, courageously battling pancreatitis.
A memorial service is planned for 4 PM Thursday, July 16that Christ United Methodist Church located at 36th and Harvard, Tulsa, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to benefit the Beta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Oklahoma in memory of James (Fatty) McClendon. Donations may be sent to First Fidelity Bank, 30 West 21st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74114.
