We were saddened to hear of Bob and Babara's passing, especially for the loss of both of your parents almost at the same time. We spend much of our summer near Estes Park, Colorado so we were unable to attend the Memorial Service, but thanks to David Mitchell, we learned about their deaths this past week. We have many fond memories of your parents from the Highland Park days and throughout our involvement in the veterinary community. Their presence will be missed, especially by you and your families.
We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Your parents were amazing. We have known them since the late 60's and your dad was a mentor to Ben as Ben became interested in AAHA and your dad turned over the Western Region to Ben as your dad moved up the ranks of AAHA. You mom was so gracious, fun, supportive and caring to me and to the other ladies of the original VMG1. Because of your parents, we made friends for a lifetime and will always think of Bob & Barb when we are together with our veterinary friends.
So very sorry for your loss but they have reached a much better place and you can lift your heads and know you have angels watching over you. Keeping you in our prayers as you walk this journey of loss but celebration.
Much love, Ben & Yvonne Johnston

We could not make it to the memorial service but spent the day thinking about how our lives were affected (positively) by the contributions that Bob and Barb gave to our profession and to our lives, personally.
Bob Featherston was probably one of the most intelligent people that we have ever met. That he chose to use that intelligence to enhance the entire profession rather than himself, personally, is pretty darned astounding. We are so thankful that he chose to do that because without his forethought we would never have met the crazy, large family that VMG has become.
Without Bob’s foresight in starting VMG, most of us would not have been as successful as we would have been in the veterinary community and also financially.
Put that aside and just consider the kindness and friendliness of Bob and Barb. They were both friends to us all, even if you didn’t know them, personally. But we did. And we will forever be better people because we knew both of them and were influenced by them.
We know that Bob and Barb will probably make heaven a better place for us and all of our friends to look forward to. Thanks for that, too! Miss you both.

Such great memories of your family. Your mom helping us outfit the first Edison girls tennis team and your dad giving my daughter a kitten she saw in the kennel when we went in to have our dog treated. Your mom and dad were so gracious and kind, I'm sure you will share lots of great memories. I am so sorry for you loss. God bless you and your family.

Absolutely so sad today when I heard. Dr. Featherston was my first employer, he was the person / reason I got into Veterinary medicine. He was a giant in our profession and a wonderful human being. Our prayers are with his family. Doubly sad that he and his wonderful wife Barbara passed within days of each other...they probably could not stand to be apart! ;-( Now they are both taking care of the Rainbow Bridge practice!

Dear Featherston Family,
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff of the American Animal Hospital Association. Dr. Featherston did much for AAHA and the veterinary profession and was very well thought of and respected throughout our organization. On a personal note, it always meant a lot to me when I was a young, struggling practice owner that he always took time to stop and check in with me and give words of encouragement. That meant a lot.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Cavanaugh
Chief Executive Officer
American Animal Hospital Association
