Obituary of John Michael Heffernan

John Michael “Giovanni” Heffernan was born on May 24, 1981 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Michael and Candace (O’Connor) Heffernan. He passed from this life on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the age of 34. John grew up in Tulsa and also lived in Springfield, Missouri; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Community College and Oklahoma State University. He aspired to become a medical doctor and most recently worked at Blue Sky as a delivery driver. John attended Grace Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was a very social and outgoing person. His favorite thing to do was hang out with his friends. He enjoyed movies, all kinds of music and eating out; Rio Verde in Tulsa was one of his favorite restaurants. He was an excellent marksman, liked guns and the outdoors. John loved science, and buying and restoring old Cadillacs. He had a love for knowledge and could carry on a conversation about basically any subject. He always welcomed an intellectual challenge. There was nothing John liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend. John will be remembered for his kindness, ability to make everyone feel welcome and how he cared for other people. John was an amazing son, brother and friend. He will be missed but not forgotten. John is survived by his parents; his sisters, Katie Heffernan and Kimberly Heffernan; his brother Joseph Heffernan; and many extended family members. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Monday, February 1 at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 39th & South Peoria. A graveside committal, for the family will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Calvary Cemetery, 91st & South Harvard Ave. in Tulsa.
