Obituary of Helen Pauline Helm

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Pauline (Samuel) Helm was born August 30, 1920. “Nana” was called home on February 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halltown, Missouri to Loy and Caryl Samuel, she had a younger sister named Osa Raye Patzwaldt who preceded her in death. In 1938, she married Julius Helm, the love of her life. They shared an adventurous life together, traveling for work and pleasure all over the United States. Helen worked for the Missouri Senate pro tem and for the federal government as an underwriter for HUD. In her off time, she loved starring in productions at the Little Theater in Jefferson City, MO. Upon retirement, in between vacations to other countries, she shuttled her grandchildren in a giant old Cadillac with a Foxy Grandma vanity plate. It embarrassed them then, but the memory delights them now. She was also an avid card player and puzzler, never letting her granddaughters win and making them better players for it. She tried never to miss a happy hour at Montereau with the Bar Belles. Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Fayenelle Helm, her son-in-law Fred Dove; two granddaughters and their husbands: Christian Helm Leikam (Robert), Lauren Caryl Leikam (Alex); a grandson, Samuel Patrick Dove; two great-grandchildren: Sarah Fayenelle Leikam and Robert Kip Leikam, III; cousin and best friend, Georgia Maxine Misemer; and many other treasured relatives in Oklahoma, Missouri, Washington, Florida, New York, Colorado and California. Her family knows that she is rejoiced to join her husband and beloved daughter, Judy Caryl Dove, in heaven. There will be a private family memorial service and celebration at Montereau in Warren Woods, where Helen so enjoyed her last 13 years. Reverend Connie Ichord will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Montereau Employee Appreciation Fund, 6800 S. Granite Ave., Tulsa, OK 74136. And raise a glass for Nana.
