Obituary of Maxine C. Bonner

Maxine C. Bonner, 96, of Tulsa, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at University Village in Tulsa at the age of 96. She was born October 2, 1919 in New Cambria, Missouri to Solomon & Arzelia (Stephenson) Crocker and lived in Collinsville, OK before moving to Tulsa in 1924. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulsa and past member of the volunteer staff at Hillcrest hospital. She enjoyed sewing, painting and card and game playing. In 1955 she began work as a secretary for the Tulsa Public School System, retiring in 1976. Survivors include sons Steve and Gary Bonner of Tulsa; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Jack, on September 3, 1991; her sisters Coral and Oretta; and one nephew. She will lie in state Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, both at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Reverend Larry Meredith, retired from First Baptist Church of Tulsa and the Reverend Canon David A. Egbert, an Episcopal Minister and family friend will co-officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulsa.
