Obituary of Carroll Blanche Gordon

Please share a memory of Carroll to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carroll Blanche (Wilmoth) Gordon was born October 31, 1918 in Talala, OK to Ernest Louis & Lulu Blanche (Richey) Wilmoth and passed from this life April 16, 2016 at the age of 97. Carroll lived in several towns in Oklahoma, as well as in Colorado when she was young. She attended Webster High School in Tulsa where she met her future husband, Paul. They were married in October of 1941 while Paul was in the Army. He came to Tulsa and they went to a Justice of the peace to get married before he had to return to Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Carroll followed him there shortly, and that’s where their daughter, Susan was born. When Susan was only a year or two old, they went to California for a short time before Paul shipped out. Carroll and another Army wife drove back to Tulsa, together with their babies, to be with their families while their husbands were serving our country. Carroll loved feeding and watching birds in her backyard. She always put out birdseed and hung hummingbird feeders to attract the birds she wanted to see and enjoy. She kept a pair of binoculars by the back door and used them to get “up close and personal” with her feathered friends. She knew when the hummingbird “scouts” appeared and kept a record of their appearance and of the appearance of the flock of hummingbirds that usually came in early July each year. She took pride in her appearance and was always dressed beautifully, whether it was a special occasion or even to just go to the grocery store or doctor’s office. She had many beautiful scarves and was known for selecting just the right one to enhance her outfit. She loved being with her family and her birthday, which was Halloween, was often celebrated with her being the center of attention at a family gathering, where she would often wear a witch’s hat for a birthday picture. She always decorated her home for Halloween with her large collection of witches and other Halloween items. Carroll was loved by all who knew her and were lucky enough to spend time with her. She really enjoyed having friends and family drop by for a visit. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and loved a good joke. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Gordon; her sisters, Lela, Whaneta, Mildred, and Evelyn; her brothers, Murrel and Ernest; and her daughter, Susan Carroll Ingram. She is survived by her granddaughters, Jenny Ingram, Julie Ingram and Holly Ingram; and her great grandson, Lane Ingram. Carroll will lie in state 10am-8pm Wednesday with family receiving friends from 5-7pm at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held at 2:00pm Thursday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel at 51st and Memorial after which she will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter.
