A sad farewell to one of my very best high school friends. Jay played a mean saxophone and was a member of the Polychromes, a select chorus made up of students of Parsons High School/Parsons Junior College.
Jay and I attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg at the same time and would occasionally run into each other. I always enjoyed his sense of humor. He was a fine man, and I am proud to have been able to call him friend.

Dear Barbara and family: Just wanted to let you know again, that you and the kids have been in our thoughts and prayers the last few days, and we pray for you health also. We are sorry that we have not had the opportunities to be closer associated with you folks, but time flies and the distance makes it more difficult. We remember the times that Jay spent with us on the farm when he was a young lad, and always looked forward to the visits from his parents and Jay and Don, and also the times we were able to visit the family in Parsons and remember the Munsell reunion in Oklahoma and being at your home. Many pleasant memories flood our minds at this time. We hope you will find solace in the many happy memories that you have of your time together. We would always enjoy hearing from you and the news of your family. Love, Reed & Betty.

While I did not know Dr. Jay....I do know Dr. Jason who says "he is his father incarnate." So I know he is/was a hell of a guy, and the world will miss his presence within in. May the love and care of family and friends bring you comfort and strength, and may the presence and peace of God be felt in meaningful ways.
Peace be with you all.

I'm so sorry for this unforseen loss. Jay was such a hard working dynamo, and always friendly. I don't know that I ever saw him sitting still (except to eat). My condolences.

I did not have the opportunity to meet Dr. Munsell personally, but I have worked with his son for over a decade through an honor society. I am intrigued and inspired by the kind of life Dr. Munsell lived and see this legacy living on in his son. My sincerest condolences.

Deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Munsell, he was a professor of mine in college at NSC. I was always amazed at how he could lecture extemporaneously without notes. I enjoyed learning from him and he was my friend.

Jay was such a great guy! He could be a curmudgeon and gripe with the best of them but he was also a hard worker and took his teaching and administrative responsibilities very seriously. I had the pleasure of serving as his Dean in the College of Education at NSU and appreciated his insights and quite often his support! They don't make them like Jay any more and he will be missed. Sorry to miss the funeral but I am off to Kansas City to help my daughter with grandchildren. I think he would understand. My sincere sympathy on his passing. Kay Grant

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Munsell for 22 years in the College of Education. As the Teacher Certification Coordinator, I often turned to him for permission to enroll a student in a class, for advice on a student's schedule, for assistance with the laminator or other device in the secondary methods/resource room. He provided great advice and beneficial information. He always had a smile on his face. When we had cookies or doughnuts in the office, he would say he didn't want one, but we would see he sneak in later to grab one. That always made me smile. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to your family.
