Carl was one of several scoutmasters in North Tulsa in the 60's and 70's. Met up with him in Feb and talked about Beekeeping. I am back in Tulsa now. Best to Gary and Family..

I am truly saddened to learn of Carl's passing. He and his wife Euvonne were dear friends of mine for years. I got my start in beekeeping by buying a full hive from Carl some 25 years ago and worked with him and others in building NEOBA. Carl was so very kind and always willing to answer questions about the bees. I learned most of what I know of beekeeping from Carl and Euvonne. In fact, it was just a couple of weeks before his passing that I called him and asked questions about my queen-less hive. Carl was an encyclopedia about beekeeping and was always willing to share his knowledge. I won't forget the kindness Carl showed when he came to my house to help me remove a swarm of bees from the attic. Or when he and Gene helped me build a bee vacuum and the many times they spent helping me extract honey. It is with a tear in my eye and a very sad heart that I bid you farewell my friend. I will never forget you or the kindness you bestowed to me and our wonderful honey bees.

I'll miss him very much. Just as with the passing of Euvonne, we have now lost the opportunity to ask guidance and advice of a long time beekeeper, of all the things he has seen, his experiences, and his humorous stories. I'm thankful for the conversations we had, the ideas we exchanged, and his willingness to repeat the lessons until "we got it".

Carl was a faithful patron of our Friday Night Opry. He always had a huge smile on his face as he watched our show each Friday. Many of our people enjoyed the honey he brought. His smiling face will be missed. Darline Hart, Gene Partridge, and Bob Plumlee

Carl had great respect for nature's creatures, including humans, and gave his time freely to teach anyone who asked him to explain anything regarding honeybees, and gave it with good humor and kindness.
He will be missed by many.

Carl was not only mentor to us over the many years, but so was Euvonne. Carl drove with us all the way to Muskogee to show us how to split a hive over 15 years ago.He lived by example and showed us lovingly by his own example. He and my own dad were lifetime Masons whose dues put Helen through college in the 60's, for which she will ever be grateful. . Carl never ceased to serve others, teaching us about volunteerism, by giving something back to NEOBA. He earned the right to be a lifetime Board Member and voted to be OKLAHOMA BEEKEEPER OF THE YEAR.. Both were an inspiration to us to continue our own mission to save the endangered honeybee by working toward sustainable beekeeping practices. We are so saddened by Carl's needing to move on in spirit, but understand. We have already placed "bees" on our own tombstones in preparation for such ourselves, and until then we will strive to continue our own work to save the honeybee, educate the next generation of their value to society. There are many lessons we have learned while working with "our girls", as Carl and Euvonne often said. Carl will be MORE than missed. He was like a father to us and to NEOBA. With Loving Memories, Mack and Helen Hickey

Carl will be missed, he was the kind of man that blessed every person he came in contact with. I am honored that I was able to have the relationship that I did with him and Euvonne. Rest easy grandpa Carl.
