Obituary of Loyd E. Dotson
Please share a memory of Loyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Loyd E. Dotson was born December 13, 1928, the son of Newton and Evaline Dotson in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He went to join his Lord and Savior on September 5, 2016, at the age of 87, after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nanci Hugo Dotson, of the home; a son, Ric E. Dotson, of Alaska; a great granddaughter, Hayla Brooke Mills; and a great grandson, Silas James Horton, both of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Everett Dotson; and his step daughter, Jennifer Kathleen.
Loyd retired from Arco in 1985 and spent the next thirty years volunteering for various agencies and organizations in Tulsa. He and his wife had a Meals-On-Wheels route for several years. He was a Volunteer Naturalist at Oxley Nature Center for 19 seasons. He loved driving the group of Trinity UMC Seniors each week to various places in Oklahoma; they were his 13 girlfriends. He was a Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop 13 and loved working with the youth groups at Trinity United Methodist and Asbury Methodist churches, both of Tulsa. He also volunteered for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s office for many years.
Loyd never liked a fuss made over him and at his request there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers he wanted donations to be made to ARF, the Animal Rescue Foundation of Tulsa, P.O. Box 471483, Tulsa, OK 74147.
Please celebrate his life in your heart and in your memory. And do a Random Act of Kindness in his memory. He will be smiling when you do.
