Obituary of Cindy Farrar

Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cindy passed away suddenly on December 28, 2012 due to complications from pneumonia. Take comfort knowing Gus, her husband of 36 years, son, Michael and sister, Cathy, were at her side. Cindy had many passions in life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and great friend to many. Her cooking was superb, particularly the Greek dishes she mastered under her mother-in-law's tutelage. Those who knew her will tell you she was equally adept with a nail gun or power saw, assisting Gus with his DIY hobby of never ending construction projects, particularly at their home on Grand Lake. They developed close, life-long relationships with their many lake friends. As an OU graduate, she was an avid football fan and attended home games regularly. She enjoyed motor sports, snow skiing, SCUBA and boating. Cindy and Gus loved to travel, especially in their motor coach, which visited nearly every major speedway in the country. Cindy also made time for her gardening interests and was an active member of the Tulsa Herb Society. Holidays and sporting events with family and friends were always special. Football bowl games, spring skiing (before the knee job), annual Kentucky Derby parties, Memorial Day at the Indy 500, 4th of July at the lake, Thanksgiving at the family ranch. Just two days before her illness she, Gus and Michael enjoyed Christmas with in-laws, nieces, nephews, toddlers and old guys going gray or bald, or both. Little did we know that our time with her was running out. Cindy was born in Ponca City on March 16, 1953, to Nate and Beverly Clark. She grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Nathan Hale High School in 1971. She completed the University of Oklahoma Nursing School in 1975 and worked as a Registered Nurse primarily in ICU, specializing in coronary care. She and Gus were married on Friday the 13th in August, 1976. Son, Michael, of Tulsa, was born in 1979. Other family include her parents, Nate and Beverly of Tulsa, brother Ed (Lori) of Raleigh, NC, brother Norman (Tarica) of Tulsa and sister Cathy Gaasch (Dan) of Broken Arrow and the Farrar family, Gary, Greg (Debbie) and George (Jeannie), many nieces and nephews, all of Tulsa, and countless friends. She will be missed.
