I met Betty when I worked at St Simeans. I absolutely fell in love with this amazing lady. I would stroll her out to the gardens to view the peacocks and collect feathers of which I would put in her braids. She enjoyed our time together and loved how beautiful her hair looked with the colorful feathers. We enjoyed watching Gone With The Wind and OU football games from the 70s and 80s. I remember making a wish for her to be given memorability from OU and they came through by getting her a signed football amongst other items. I even painted her nails red w/white OU's on each nail. I think about her every day and remember all the horse stories we talked about. I loved her as if she were my own family. Betty will always remain in my heart and memories.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Stambaugh's passing. Over the last ten years I had very few conversations with her but always respected her expressed love of Oklahoma and the conservation efforts of The Nature Conservancy. My condolences to her family and friends.

Ms Stambaugh was my horse owner mentor. She helped me decide on my first horse purchase-Buck. We boarded our horses at her place at 51st and 145th. It saddened me when she stopped boarding horses. We talked occasionally over the years. I will miss her.
