Gary Clark Adams was born November 19, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas to Dorothy Glynn (Stephens) and K.S. “Boots” Adams. He passed from this life Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Vail, Colorado at the age of 66. As a graduate of Bartlesville College High School, he lettered in football and basketball. Gary attended the University of Kansas on a football scholarship and graduated with a B.S.B.A. Degree in 1973. He was a gifted athlete and a three-year starter on the Jayhawk Football Team. Proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gary was a life-long supporter of the Alpha Xi Chapter, Sigma Chi Fraternity at KU. As Chairman and President of Adams Affiliates, Inc. Gary managed multiple subsidiaries and related companies active in the oil and gas exploration and production business, real estate investments as well as farming and ranching operations. Gary shared his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors with his family and friends through flying, skiing, boating, diving and fishing. He loved all sports activities, especially the KU Jayhawks. Gary actively volunteered in his children’s school activities and sports at both the School of St. Mary and Cascia Hall. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Gary is survived by his wife, Melissa and their children, George and Gracie; his daughters, Kimberly Adams, Jamey Adams, Ashley Blazer and her husband, Dave, Julie Fair and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Mae, Owen, Ethan, Maisie and Catherine; sisters, Stephanie Walthall and her husband, Pancho, Lisa Stinson and her husband, John; brothers, Steve Adams and his wife, Vicki, Kenneth Adams and his wife, Diana; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 709 S. Boston Ave.
