Obituary of Casey Honn
Please share a memory of Casey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Casey Honn was born September 25, 1948 in Columbus, Kansas to Knowlton Charles and Wilma Jeanne (Hercules) Honn. He passed from this life Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the age of 68.
He was a 1966 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. He attended Bacone College before transferring to the University of Tulsa. He played baseball at both schools, throwing many “no hitters.” He dreamed of playing major league baseball, but that dream was not to be realized after he sustained significant injuries from an automobile accident. He spent three years at TU, but with a baby on the way, working and supporting his family became his dream.
He went to work with the Tulsa Fire Department on February 2, 1970 and transferred into Public Education and Fire Safety before retiring August 1, 1991. Following retirement, he owned a number of used car lots; most recently Deals On Wheels in Sapulpa. Casey was a longtime member of Jenks First Baptist Church. He enjoyed designing and building houses, cooking and smoking ribs and steaks and meeting his buddies each morning at McDonald’s.
Casey was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dick. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Collette; daughters and sons-in-law, Traci and Jim Hill, Cami and Dan Rogers, Jennifer and Jeff Walker; son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Lori Guffey; and daughter, Anastasia Honn; grandchildren, Breanna Stafford and her husband, Dustin, CJ Hill and his wife, Megan, Bethany and Baylor Hill, Kobey and Alec Rogers, Gabby Gerian, Casey Walker, Gunner and Gehrig Guffey and another granddaughter is on the way. Casey is also survived by five brothers, six sisters, their spouses and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Jenks, OK. Graveside committal will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
