Obituary of James Walter Mickle

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Walter Mickle was born on May 4, 1943 in Pryor, OK to Walter and Maurine (Smith) Mickle.  Jim, as he was known, passed from this life on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 74.

Jim was special person with the ability to make everyone smile and laugh.  He was a friend to everyone who was lucky enough to know him and was often surrounded by many people seeking his attention and enjoying his quick witted humor and sparkling smile.  He loved cars of all kinds but especially Street Rods.  He was the proud owner of many of the finest cars in the Tulsa area and loved attending car show events. He was legendary among the Street Rodders all over the country as he began his passion at a very young age and carried it his entire life of 74 years. He was a founding member of the car club, Green Country Gang and loved his fellow club members. He was also a member of the Tulsa Roadsters.  Jim never let his bout with childhood polio stop him from doing what he wanted.  He pursued snow skiing, roller skating, bike riding, karate, leg weight lifting and collecting Antique Advertising. He took what ability he had and maximized it to enjoy a 38 year career as a Graphic Designer with the Frank Murphy Company.

The loss of Jim will be felt for a lifetime by his wife, Robin, of the home; his son, Jamie Mickle, of Tulsa; a step-son, Dewey Thompson, of Tulsa; a sister, Chrissi Caves, of Corinth, TX; one grandson, Benjamin Mickle, of Tulsa and countless friends and relatives.
