Obituary of James Michael Wise
James Michael Wise, a retired dentist and independent oilman, died of complications from lung cancer on October 12th, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 64. Mike was born on May 29, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Henry Erle Wise, Jr. and Carolyn Jane (Spencer) Schumacher. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his aunt and uncle, Wanda and James Saddoris of Tulsa. Mike earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, graduating in 1980.
Upon graduation, Mike moved to Tulsa to practice with his uncle and mentor, Dr. James Saddoris. During his 28 years in dentistry, he practiced in both Tulsa and Hominy, Oklahoma. In 1997, he formed Senax, Inc., an oil production company with operations primarily in Osage County, Oklahoma. Mike derived great joy and meaning from his life’s work. He cared deeply for his patients, his devoted staff, and his colleagues in the energy industry.
Mike is survived by his wife of 38 years, Daphne Morgan Wise and his two sons, Theodore Spencer Wise of Denver, Colorado and James William Wise of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, sisters Margie Wise Swagerty and Susan Schumacher Voss, and sister-in-law Stephanie Morgan Wilson. Mike lived life to the fullest with his family and friends. His joyful philosophy was “The more, the merrier.”
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 21st at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa.
