Obituary of Louise Somers
Louise (Kepner) Somers returned to her heavenly home on March 22, 2018, at the age of 96 with her devotion to her family and lifelong relationship with her Lord and Savior supporting her passage.
Louise is survived by her children, Stephen (Karen), George, and Barbara (Kent) Harville, and her sister, Betty Klosterman. “Ganny” will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Deanne (Ligen), Kay, Amber (Blair) Anderson, and Allison (Corey) Maupin, and her great grandchildren, Shelby, Jace, Tyler, Parker, and Sawyer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd, and her siblings, Donald, Eugene, Dorothy, and Paul.
Louise was born on January 19, 1922 in Salem, Illinois to John Francis and Fairie Lee Foster. She married Loyd Somers in November 1941 after which she moved to Oklahoma to eventually reside in Tulsa in 1950. Louise was a devoted wife and mother to her three children. She was an active and dedicated member in Trinity Methodist Church for over sixty years, very involved in Methodist Women, served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for twenty years. Louise loved gardening, walks, games, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Louise touched many lives with her sense of humor and sweet spirit; she will deeply missed by those whose lives she has touched.
Louise will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with a reception immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery’s Family Living Center (5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Louise’s life.
