Obituary of Helen Jewel Ramey
Helen Jewel (Trueblood) Ramey was born August 2, 1931 in Miami, Texas to Pearl & Jewel (Compton) Trueblood and she passed from this life on July 24, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 86.
She attended Olive school until the age of 16, when she eloped with her husband, of 71 years, Junior. They had two boys Rick and Terry. For many years they traveled together for Juniors work until settling in Jenks, Oklahoma. Years later she was employed by Jenks Public Schools where she took great pride as a bus driver for many years until she retired.
She enjoyed traveling to rod runs and showing old cars and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to drive in parades. Helen was also a member of Jenks City Council and Rebekah’s. She traveled with her grand-daughter and supported special needs groups.
Helen enjoyed her family and especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was mom, grandma and nana. Her house was always home. She was there when you needed her. You knew what she thought and where you stood. She was the one that you wanted on your side, because she would fight tooth and nail and not give up. . . She truly will be missed.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rick Ramey; her sisters, Minnie Nicolet, Lena Kujawa and Geraine Martin and her brother, John Earl Trueblood. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Junior Ramey; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry & Marilyn Ramey; her sisters, Kathrine Elam, Parna Davis, Hettie Cramer and Glenda Blackwood; her brother, Mack Trueblood; 5 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Helen will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, with family receiving friends from 5-7 pm at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 3841 S. Peoria. Her funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, at the Oakridge Baptist Church, 6103 S. 44th West Ave. She will be laid to rest following at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, OK.
