Obituary of Ann Gibbs

Ann Gibbs was born on April 15, 1937 in Russellville, AR to Ebal Pinkson Torrence & Rose Margaret (Parker) Torrence. Ann passed from this life on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 81.

She graduated from Arkansas Tech and began her teaching career which included schools in De Queen, AR; Nashville, TN; and Tulsa.  She married Tennessee native, Eugene Gibbs and Tulsa became their new home in 1963. Ann left public school teaching to be home with her kids. Her love for music and piano skills led her to start teaching piano at Yamaha Music School and Trio School of Music.

Ann was active at Southminster Presbyterian Church and Eastern Oklahoma Presbyterian Women by serving on committees and holding many leadership positions. She loved volunteering at Marshall Elementary School, sewing, knitting, and photography. 

Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eugene; son, Terry Gibbs (Kelly) of Keller, TX and their children, Melissa, Alexander (Haley) and Nathan; daughter, Karen Hiller (Paul) of Tulsa, OK, and their children, Victor and Holly. Preceded in death by infant granddaughter, Monica Hiller.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 25 from 5-7pm at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.  Memorial service 11am, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Southminster Presbyterian Church.
