Obituary of Mary Ann Gavrilys

Mary Ann Gavrilys was born on February 28, 1931 in Holdenville, OK to Nicholas Athanasios Klentos and Konstantine B. (Johnson) Klentos.  She fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2018 in Joliet, IL at the age of 87.

Mary Ann dedicated her life to caring for her family and volunteering for the church as a member of the Philoptochos organization. She also volunteered her time at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL.  She enjoyed painting and crocheting.  Mary Ann volunteered as a Picture Lady in several grade schools, to educate children about art.  She also worked as a professional photographer at Carson Pirie Scott Department Store and worked in the Personnel Department for Wieboldt’s Department Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Theodore Gavrilys; her son, Theodore James “Ted” Gavrilys; her siblings, Billie Gavras, Anna Klentos, Kathryne Drummond, Tommy Klentos and Angelina Mihos.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Constance “Tina” Lehpamer and her husband, Michael of Plainfield, IL; her grandchildren, Anthony, Lisa and James Gavrilys, Nicole Lehpamer and Melissa Bayles and a great-granddaughter, Adelyn Marie Bayles.

Trasigion prayers will be held 6PM Thursday and Funeral Liturgy 10AM Friday both at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
