Roy J. Stuart, Jr. was born on July 25, 1920 in Shawnee, OK to Roy and Clelta (Foraker) Stuart. Roy passed from this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the age of 92.
Roy graduated from Shawnee High School and graduated from Tulsa University with a bachelor's degree after a storied football career. He later played professional football with the Cleveland Rams and the Detroit Lions. During this period Roy enlisted in the U. S. Navy during WWII and served on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. In 1945 his carrier was attacked by two Japanese suicide planes which hit the ship and nearly blew it out of the water. The carrier limped back to the States for repairs. After the war, Roy played with the Buffalo Bisons (later known as the Buffalo Bills) where he finished his professional football career. Roy was inducted to the T.U. Hall of Fame in 1993 and selected to TU's All-50 Year Golden Hurricane football team in 1945. He worked for W. K. Warren Petroleum Company selling propane and butane and retired as District Sales Manager.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Guthrie) Stuart in 1990; a son, Steven Robert Stuart and a sister, Virginia Watson. He is survived by his three children, Scott Stuart and his wife, Renna Wolfe Stuart, of Jackson, MS, Nancy Stuart, of Madison-Ridgeland, MS, and Roy J. Stuart, III and his wife, Linda, of Friendswood, TX; a daughter-in-law, Pam Stuart, of Clinton, MS; a brother, Bob Stuart, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Daniel Blake Stuart, Ashley Lynn Stuart, Wesley Paul Stuart, Thomas Evan Stuart, Matthew Stuart, Bernard Wolfe, Wendy Wolfe and Angel Windus and great grandchildren, Grace, Ella and Zachary Wolfe.
