Obituary of Birdie Beebe Philo

Birdie Mildred (Beebe) Philo was born July 23, 1931 in West Monroe, LA to Edmond & Minnie Beebe and passed from this life on August 8, 2019 at the age of 88 in Tulsa, OK. Millie was a beloved wife to her husband Charles for 53 years, mother to Catherine and Sandra and grandmother to Grace and Greer.

Millie and Charles met on November 1st 1953 and married December 26th of the same year. Millie was a telephone operator from the time she graduated high school in 1949 until marrying in 1953. From that time on, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, sewing, bowling, being a Girl Scout leader and a PTA mother. She was very involved the group the United Methodist Women at every Methodist church she attended. She also loved her Sunday school class at Memorial Drive UMC with whom she and Charles took many bus trips. What brought Millie the greatest joy was her granddaughters. She loved sending them on many trips whether they be school exchanges to France or mission opportunities with church. She was involved in every aspect of their lives, from babysitting and picking them up from preschool to attending baccalaureate and graduations from high school.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond & Minnie Beebe; her husband, Charles Henry Philo; and her sisters, Nita Freeland, Doris Anderson and Linda Cramer.  She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Catherine & Anthony Lackey and Sandra & Brett Elbon; her brothers, Ralph and Larry Beebe; and her granddaughters, Grace and Greer Elbon.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Ninde Brookside Chapel and Millie will be laid to rest at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with her late husband.
