I didn’t know Sherry as a master gardener but I knew her as a Linnaeus Gardener. We were in the same class...I believe it was class 12, we sure had a lot of fun times she was a real sweetheart and as genuine as you could get!
I met Sherry in 1971 when she brought Rick home to meet "the family". She was the quintessential hostess and she was generous with everything in her life. She had a laugh that could shake the rafters and voice reminiscent of Anne Bancroft! I remember a fondue dinner at her parent's home and years of week ends at the lake at Duck Creek. There were lobster parties in the garden to support Tulsa Opera and bailing out Ian's nursery after the 1984 Memorial Day flood! What more can I say about a friendship of over 48 years. Sherry was a sister to me and I will miss her but I will never forget her. I am reminded of a quote from St. Augustine, "I want my friend to miss me as long as I miss her". Sail on my friend, we'll catch up later.
Sherry was a fine lady and life long friend. May she rest in peace. We go way back to our early days at Grand Lake. She was always kind and fun to be around. I remember her family well. God Speed to the Smiths. Please know that the Siegfired family of prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
