Melton “Jack” Fly was born on September 22, 1931, in Waco, TX to Circy Lee and Hilda Catherine (Melton) Fly. He passed from this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 88.
Jack graduated from Temple High School in 1949. The following August, Jack enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a Private and discharged from the military as a Sergeant. Jack graduated from Texas A&M in June of 1956 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
For many years, Jack was employed as a mechanical engineer, and as a private pilot. In the 1990s, he worked on an oil pipeline in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. In 2004, Jack retired from the Tulsa City-County Health Department where he worked as an engineer for the Department of Environmental Quality.
Jack met Sally Blythe in the spring of 1988, and they married in July of 1992. They were married for 26 years.
Jack enjoyed working on cars and watching his beloved Texas Aggies play football. He was never without a story or a joke. He and Sally were members of Victory Christian Center for many years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Sally Ruth Fly in 2019, and his parents. He is survived by his step-daughters, Patty Keys (Robert), Donna Poth (Jay), and step-son, Richie Blythe, Jr. (Rhonda); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
