Obituary of Joe Winn

Joe Neal Winn was born May 19, 1931 in Weleetka, OK to Mary (Newsome) and Haskell Winn. He passed from this life Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 90. Joe was a graduate of Weleetka High School and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Woodson and the U.S.S. Fred T. Berry. Upon his return home Joe went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, while working his way thru The University of Tulsa and earning his CPA. While at TU, Joe met and soon married Gloria Jean Craig. Joe and Gloria would make their home in Sapulpa, OK, where they lived for 50 years. After graduation Joe went to work for the Internal Revenue Service, where he would make many lifelong friendships. Joe retired from the Internal Revenue Service in August 1990. Joe was a very kind and loving father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He had an adventurous spirit and a truly generous heart. His zest for living and willingness to try new things made adventures a surprise and a joy. Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Tammy Winn and grandson, Erick Winn all of Tulsa. He also has a stepdaughter, Shelley Lewis, her husband, Fred Lewis and their children, Nathan Lewis, Matthew Lewis and Ruth Guinn. Joe’s family would like to thank the staff at the Villages of Southern Hills Assisted Living Center and Sooner Home Health. The loudest, strongest, most boisterous and kindest man has gone home. If you knew him, you were blessed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.
