Obituary of Carol Ann Porter

Carol Ann (Kurtz) Porter was born July 31st, 1957 in Tulsa, OK to Thomas William Kurtz and Cora Rebecca (McCright) Kurtz and passed from this life on February 19, 2022 at the age of 64. Carol attended Paul Revere Elementary School, Edison Junior High, and Edison High school, where she performed with the Swimettes, a synchronized swimming troupe. After graduating high school in 1975, she studied at Oklahoma State University where she continued making many happy memories with her best friend, Stephanie Bates. They travelled everywhere together, from Las Vegas to Eureka Springs, but Carol’s favorite destination was her parent’s cabin in Cedar Crest. She loved helping children and spent her twenties working at the Children’s Medical Center and Shadow Mountain. In 1984 she welcomed her son, Chad Michael Woods and in 1987 a daughter, Sara Rebecca Woods. In 1989 she met and fell in love with her husband, Curtis Earl Porter. They were married on May 18th, 1990 and in 1991, they welcomed their daughter Megan Diane Porter. Carol encouraged her children to follow their hearts and enjoyed attending their many activities, as well as shopping, going to OU games, and being at the lake. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her dogs. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Kurtz. She is survived by her husband, Curtis, her three children, Chad (Catherine) and their son Grant, Sara (Jarred), Megan (Tyler), and her brothers Ed Kurtz and Philip Kurtz, as well as many family and friends. Carol will lie in state Thursday, February 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25th at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and Chapel; masks are required.
