Obituary of Dr. Norval R. Smith

Dr. Norval Ross Smith was born February 15, 1927 in Enid, OK to Grafton & Dorothy (Seamons) Smith and passed from this life on February 23, 2023 at the age of 96.

 

He attended Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, The University of Oklahoma and Washington University in Saint Louis where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and practiced Dentistry in Tulsa for 52 years.

 

Dr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Margaret Katherine (Gregg) Smith and Elizabeth Anne (Wood) Smith; his daughter, Velma Luella Smith; and his brother, Dr. Grafton Smith.  He is survived by his son and his partner, Dr. Gregg Smith & Kevin Burleson; his step daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy & Dr. Larry Sears and Robin & Gary Freeman; his step son, Mike Wood and their children.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation for the staff at The Grove at Midtown Retirement Community, Suncrest Home Health and Hospice and Debi and Doug Bell for their loving care.

 

Dr. Smith will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.  His funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Rose Chapel and he will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
