Obituary of Josephine C. Watson
Josephine Caroletta Watson, 90, passed away July 6, 2023, in Tulsa.
Born Oct. 14, 1932, to Vesta and Orville Worrell, Jo graduated from Will Rogers High school and, shortly after, married Fred Watson. They were happily married for more than 60 years and raised three boys, Mark, Joseph and Kurt.
Jo led a modest but fulfilling life. She loved the Lord, purple and butterflies.
She was a skilled homemaker, who cooked delicious meals from scratch and sewed clothes for her family. A part-time tax preparer role at H&R Block after her children left home turned into a 30-year career that included her managing several stores.
She enjoyed drawing and, later in life, China painting, winning many prizes at the state fair.
She was a long standing member at Rose Hill United Methodist Church, which she served in about every way imaginable. Most of all, she was a loving and compassionate person who was known to provide shelter, food and comfort to those in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Zelma Lou Long, husband Fred Watson, sons Mark and Kurt Watson, and niece Melissa Blevins. She is survived by her son Joseph Watson; grandchildren Aron, Jessica, Robert, Jessica, Estaleen and Ryan Watson; and several great-grandchildren.
Services are set for July 14 at 11 a.m. at Ninde Brookside Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to:
John 3:16, North America Butterfly Association, or Salvation Army.
