Minta Jean (Meek) Johnson was born April 4, 1943, in Tulsa, OK to Minton Wheeler Meek and Edith Velma (Orwig) Meek and passed from this life on August 14, 2023, at the age of 80.

Jean served as the church secretary for 17 years at 41st Street Christian Church and worked at Occidental Petroleum and City Services.  A hard worker, Jean also knew how to play.  She sternly reminded her granddaughters who were accompanying her on a trip that “Vacation Grandma and At Home Grandma were two different people.”  Jean loved her family, her God, her church and animals.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert Armstrong; her brother, Charles Meek; and her sister-in-law, Pat Meek Romero.  She is survived by her husband, A. Richard Johnson, Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Christopher Hummell; her stepsons, Stephen Johnson and Brian Johnson and his wife, Tresa Johnson; her 9 grandchildren; and her 13 great grandchildren.

Jean will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16 with family receiving friends from 5-7pm at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.  Her funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, at the First Baptist Church in Jenks.  She will be laid to rest noon Thursday, August 17 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
