Obituary of Carolyn Mae Evans

Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carolyn Mae (Bond) Evans, 94, passed peacefully to eternal life on August 12, 2023.  Carolyn was born on May 31, 1929 to George and Edna Sizemore Bond.  She was raised in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  It was at Classen High School that she met her forever sweetheart, JC Evans. Both attended Oklahoma A&M and married October 7,1950.  While at Oklahoma A&M, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and served as chapter president.

Carolyn dedicated herself first to her family in Virginia, then Bartlesville, Berkeley Heights NJ, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and returning to Tulsa.  In each community she volunteered with children both in schools and in home rehabilitation.  Having been raised in the Baptist Church she joined the Methodist Church at her marriage and volunteered in numerous capacities at First United Methodist in Bartlesville, Chapel Hill United Methodist in Oklahoma City and Boston Avenue United Methodist in Tulsa.  She was active for many years in the Pi Beta Phi alumnae club and P.E.O. both of which she enjoyed with lifelong friends.

When Jess’s parents relocated to Tulsa and Methodist Manor, now Trinity Woods, a long association of interest and volunteering began there.  She served for many years on the board and was actively involved in the growth and development of the campus.  She and Jess were loyal and true OSU fans and enjoyed many seasons of cheering for OSU football and basketball.

Her family always felt loved and cherished and she referred to them as their greatest accomplishments.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Jess, and survived by daughter and son-in-law Linda (Evans) and Charles Berner and son and daughter-in-law Melanie (Combs) and Richard Evans.  Six grandchildren were blessed by her love: Scott Berner, Justin Berner, Brian Berner and wife Kelly, Sarah (Berner) Yoder and husband Chris, Michael Evans and wife Kelly and Joanna (Evans) Wofford and husband Todd.  Seven great grandchildren always brought a smile to her face; Kinley and Easton Evans, Hudson and Emma Yoder, Meredith and Liam Berner and Noah Wofford.
