What a great man. BP was the first partner added to my father‘s general surgery group, Surgical Associates, in Tulsa in the mid 1960s before leaving to become a cardiovascular surgeon. I can remember Billy Paul driving his XKE jaguar out to Manfred when they were building the dam and dragged me along. I say driving, it was more like flying down the highway. Did he have a swagger! He was a partner to my dad but a friend to me and a mentor. He surprised me by initiating me Into Sigma Chi driving from Tulsa the Sunday morning of initiation and driving back to Tulsa before I could even say thank you after the ceremony.
We remain friends for decades. I last saw him at my dad’s funeral in The summer of 2022. He’s still had that twinkle in his eye and though slower that sense of wit.
Rest in peace, oh great one,
