Obituary of David Wayne Gordon

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David Wayne Gordon

(Gordo)

June 12, 1970 – January 16, 2024

David was a life-long resident of the City of Tulsa; Born June 12, 1970 to Paul and Johnnie Gordon;  graduate of Jenks High School;  graduate of the University of Tulsa; Owner of Gorfam Marketing, Inc and Gorfam Athletics, LLC.

David began his soccer career as soon as he was able to walk and spent many years playing and coaching several winning teams in the Jenks and Tulsa area; was named Jenks Gatorade Player of the year; and was inducted into the Class of 2011 Hall of Fame Honor Team as a member of the 1991 University of Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team under coach Randy Waldrum.

To say David’s world revolved around soccer is an understatement as his two kids – Ashton and Ethan – inherited their dad’s love for the sport.  Both Ashton and Ethan played for Booker T Washington High School Soccer, and both were awarded full scholarships with the University of Pittsburg and DePaul University respectively.  If David was not in Tulsa, he would be traveling to either Pittsburg or Chicago to see one – or both – kids play.

David lettered on the men’s soccer team with the University of Tulsa and was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and University of Tulsa Letterman’s Club.

Through his brotherhood with the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the University of Tulsa men’s soccer team, David’s close family group magnified tenfold, and he has maintained those relationships to this day.  It was often a joke that David knew 50 % of the people in Tulsa but as is evident, this was not a joke.  Anytime David was out, David could not walk 5 feet without stopping to talk with someone he knew.

David is survived by his daughter Ashton, his son Ethan, his mother Johnnie, his brothers Paul Jr and Steve, countless fraternity and soccer brothers, friends, relatives, and neighbors. David was proceeded in death by his father, Paul Sr.
