Obituary of Cheryl Ann Estep

Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cheryl Ann Estep was born September 14, 1955, in Tulsa, OK to Odis Leroy Carpenter and Patty Jean (Sharp) Carpenter and passed from this life on November 16, 2024, at the age of 69.

Cheryl attended East Central High School. Growing up she helped in the family Daylight Donut shop. After graduation, Cheryl found herself in the corporate world as an administrative assistant. She then went on to work independently as bookkeeper for local Tulsa attorneys. After several years working full-time, she knew it wasn’t where her heart was. She decided to do contract bookkeeping and began working from home so she could invest her time, love, and energy into her family and community.

Cheryl and Rod met after graduating high school through mutual friends. They married in 1979. Together they enjoyed flying, traveling, hosting parties in their home, scuba diving, and fishing. Cheryl always beat Rod with the biggest catch of the day. Then in 1981 and 1984, they became proud parents of Kelly and Casey and she dedicated her life to raising her family. Cheryl and Rod continued to share their love for traveling, fishing, flying, spending time at the lake, and introducing their children to new experiences throughout their lives.

As a mom, she was the…making most memorable birthday party mom, PTA mom, homeroom mom, Flyers scorekeeper mom, QBC and Jenks Cheer mom, taking the kids toilet papering mom, the Hockey mom, school fundraiser mom, t-shirt designer mom, excel sheet expert mom, a Marine Mom, and the best Saturday morning breakfast mom… just to name a few. She taught her children valuable life lessons of creating memories and unconditional love.

Cheryl decided to fully retire when she earned the name Yaya. She devoted her time to family, but especially to her grandkids by spoiling them to the core. She included her grandkids in everything including cooking, decorating for the holidays, setting up Yaya-ville, creating traditions of going to Disney on Ice, the fair, the Polar Express, taking them on Branson trips and lake trips, and taking them shopping. She also loved to read to them and play board games and card games with them. She made sure her family had everything they needed and almost everything they wanted.

Cheryl’s personal interests were baking, cooking…lots of cooking, shopping local for fun earrings and necklaces, eating at local restaurants, taking lots of pictures of her amazing recipes to share with the world, planting flowers, and her grandkids. She loved to host family dinners, bunco with friends, and wedding and baby showers. She also was an integral part of continuing the yearly Carpenter Family Reunion and always made sure we would never go hungry at family gatherings at the Party Barn.  Cheryl loved life big with her smile and her laughter, something everyone that met her loved about her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Danny Carnes.  She is survived by her mother; her husband, Rodger “Rod” Estep; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly & Mike Evans; her son and daughter-in-law, Casey & Sara Estep; her brother and sister-in-law, Mike & Diane Carpenter; her sister and brother-in-law, Gail & Mike Fox; her 4 grandchildren, Kinley, Easton, Jack and Kira.
