Obituary of Cecil Gentner Drummond
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecil Gentner Drummond. Born on April 1, 1940, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Cecil peacefully departed this life on January 18, 2025, at the age of 84. His journey began in Hominy, Oklahoma, where he completed his high school education in 1958. Pursuing his passion for agriculture, Cecil obtained his Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry from Oklahoma State University, all while being an active member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. In 1963, he also dedicated his time to the National Guard.
Cecil proceeded to attend law school at the University of Oklahoma, earning his Juris Doctorate degree. While in law school, he met Mary Carol Chamlee. They married and eventually, brought three children into this world: Susan Lorraine “Lori”, Carolyn Blake “Blake”, and Cecil Gentner Jr. “C.G.”.
Once Cecil graduated law school, he and Carol settled in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the capital of Osage County. He practiced law and continued ranching alongside his ranching family. Cecil developed an interest in public service that saw him elected as a delegate to the National Platform Committee for the National Democratic Party in 1972. During that time, he ran for the position of Congressman from the Second Congressional District. Despite the outcome of the election, Cecil’s perseverance and commitment to his community remained unwavering. Cecil navigated life’s challenges with grace and unwavering faith in God. After his divorce from Carol, he relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Carol and their children also lived. He established a successful law practice with his dear friend, Cindy Boettcher. He also became an engaged member of Alcoholics Anonymous, later guiding and supporting others on their journey to sobriety and a fulfilling life, which brought him immense happiness. In AA, Cecil discovered a new passion in Dolores (Falls) Drummond. They shared a deep commitment to providing support and companionship to others. Cecil’s compassionate nature, centered around helping those in need, became his defining trait. Consequently, he cultivated enduring friendships and connections that meant the world to him.
Cecil is preceded in death by his beloved wives, Carol Drummond and Dolores Drummond, as well as his brothers, Leslie Frederick Drummond and wife Carol Ann Drummond, and Jack Richard “Dick” Drummond. He is survived by his children, Susan Lorraine “Lori” Brewer and spouse Brent Brewer, Carolyn Blake Rogers and spouse Mark Rogers, and Cecil Gentner Jr “CG” Drummond and his partner, Tanya Inman; along with his grandchildren, Ashton Marie Leary, Allison Brianne Leary, Blaine Warren Brewer and spouse Kirstin Brewer, Blair Thomas Brewer and Blevin Carter Brewer; his great-grandchild, Briar William Brewer.
