Obituary of Aubrey Cardwell

Aubrey Louis Cardwell was born on December 23, 1927 in Tell, TX to Albert Perry Cardwell and Myrtle (Shipley) Cardwell. Aubrey passed from this life on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 85.
Married March 20, 1948 in the Texas panhandle, Aubrey and bride Peggy Lay lived for a short while in Midland, TX before moving to Tulsa, OK.
Aubrey was a longtime member of Crosstown Church of Christ, joining over 50 years ago when it was known as Eastside Church of Christ. He served his church family in many capacities; most notably as a church Deacon and also chief mechanic - keeping the church buses in running order to ferry those in need of transportation to church services and activities. Aubrey retired from McDonnell-Douglas after 25 years of service. In retirement he enjoyed gardening tomatoes and tinkering with auto mechanics. Most of all, he loved his family deeply and was delighted by each new addition.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and a son, Michael Lee Cardwell. He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Lay) Cardwell; daughter, Teresa Reed of Jenks, OK; son, Aubrey Lynn Cardwell and wife Linda, of Midland, TX; a brother, Leon Cardwell and wife Lavern, of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
