Obituary of Jimmy Grubb

Please share a memory of Jimmy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jimmy Warren Grubb, beloved friend, brother, uncle, neighbor, traveling companion, and partner, died peacefully at his home in Tulsa on Friday morning, September 20, 2013 at the young age of 70. As the youngest of six children, Jimmy loved being the baby of the family. He is survived by his siblings whom he cherished more than anything, David and wife Vanessa of Sapulpa; Kenneth Wayne "Toby" and wife Mary of Skiatook; Annie and husband Bob of Mannford; and Robert Lee "Junior" of Tulsa, along with countless nieces, nephews, and friends whom he called family. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert Lee and Hazel Grubb of Tulsa; sister Bobbie Jean Turner of Yale; brother-in-law Frank Turner of Yale; sister-in-law Geraldine Grubb of Tulsa; and life partner Bob Zubryn of Tulsa...the love of his life. As a Marine, Jimmy served his country proudly in Vietnam before later coming home to Tulsa to work as a Nurse Tech at St. Francis Hospital for more than thirty years. Jimmy loved working in nursing and was the perfect nurse. He genuinely cared for his patients and took care of them as his own. Even as a patient himself, numerous staff members at St. Francis still remembered his warm spirit and ornery smile. Jimmy enjoyed spending quality time with his friends and family and was always present for every event, party, and social gathering. He loved to travel and had the privilege of traveling extensively throughout his life. His favorite place to travel was always Las Vegas and one of his all time favorite trips was traveling to Las Vegas with his brothers. In Jimmy's spare time, you could always find him playing bingo, bowling, dining, or playing the penny slot machines at River Spirit Casino. He enjoyed rodeos and was involved with the Sooner State Rodeo Association. Gentle, compassionate, fun, and full of life, Jimmy brought peace wherever he went. He was the ultimate friend to all and was fortunate enough to be surrounded by friends of all ages and backgrounds. Even in his final days, he was taking care of those around him. Jimmy embraced life and truly embraced people of all walks of life. He believed in accepting people just as they were without judgment and regardless of choices. He will be greatly missed by all, but his sweet spirit, sense of humor, kind nature, and generous stance in life will live on in all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Services will be held at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center at 621 E. 4th Street in Tulsa on Wednesday, September 25th at 10:00am and interment will be at the Lawson Cemetery in Yale, OK at 2:00pm Wednesday afternoon. Family visitation will be held at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Tuesday, September 24th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A celebration of his life will be held at the Tulsa Eagle at 1338 E. 3rd Street on Saturday, September 28th at 4:00pm. In Jimmy's memory, donations may be made to the Dennis R.
