Josephine "Jody" McLernon, 89, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Born November 17, 1917 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of William J. and Velma (Crawford) Slack. After graduating from high school she attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO for two years then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in English. While at OU she was a member of Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority. In 1941 she married George J. McLernon of San Antonio, TX. They moved to Tulsa in 1944 . Jody was active in many Tulsa organizations including the Tulsa Boys Home, Tulsa Opera and Tulsa Philharmonic. She was also active both locally and nationally in Delta Gamma's Alumnae Association especially Delta Gamma's Service for Sight Foundation. She is survived by her daughter: Barbara M. O'Bannon and her husband Michael of Jenks; Grandchildren: Brian R. O'Bannon of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth O'Bannon a student at O.U. and a Delta Gamma Sister, and Taylor Sturges O'Bannon a student at the University of Central Missouri; her sister: Dottie Wood Mishler of Tulsa; her niece: Jeanette Clark, her husband Jerry and their daughter Candace; Nephew: Dr. Rieger Wood, III, his wife Donna and their children, Rieger, IV, Trent and Nicholas all of Tulsa. Jody's life touched many people and she will be greatly missed. Services will be 12 Noon Friday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
